I haven't posted in a while. I've been so bored. I don't know what to do with myself most of the time. My friends never want to talk to me, it seems, and I haven't had any work to do. I've only had to practice.
I've also been having lots of problems with my applied lessons. I can't get the sound that I need to have to be able to do anything well. He admitted to bullying me in my lessons. I can't really play in front of anyone. It seems like I've gotten worse, as far as being able to play in front of anyone. I think it has to do with the competition here at BG. Don't get me wrong, competition can be a very good thing, and I wouldn't want to go somewhere where there isn't any competition, but every music major in the place is treated as a music performance major, which I'm not. Honestly, at the level I'm at now, I could be a perfectly good music teacher for what I want to do. NOt that I don't want to improve, but everything is taken so seriously, like we're all going to go out right after college and get jobs with major orchestras around the world.
So that's why I talked with my parents about transferring. I've been looking around for places to go to, and I"ve narrowed it down to 3 possibilities. I've looked at the Univ. of Memphis, in Memphis, TN. Univ. of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, AL, and Indiana State Univ. and I'm not sure of the town that's in. And Indiana isn't looking too good. The problem is that in the state of Indiana, to teach, even elementary schools, you need to have a masters degree, so it only makes sense that you would have to have a masters to graduate. I don't want to do that right away, unless I absolutely have to, because you're more likely to get hired without a masters. I want to get it eventually, cause you get paid more, but to get hired, a bachelors is better. I still have to check it out. So it's pretty much down to U of M or UA. I'm here until the end of the year, at least, and possibly still after that, but I'm letting everyone know that I'm looking.
